Allyson finally made her appearance on Friday, November 20th at 3:45am (5 days before her due date). For pics, you'll have to look at my husband's blog because he has all the pictures on his computer. My sister-in-law has asked for the labor story, so if you don't want to know stop reading. I was scheduled to be induced Thursday. We called at 6:30am to see if they wanted me to come in. We were told to come in around 7:30am, but then got a call at 7:45 not to because they had too many people. So, we had to wait and call around 12pm. Did that and it was still a no go. I was surprisingly okay...a little anxious to get started, but Eric and my mom kept saying to call a little earlier. The nurse thought it was funny that I would call a bit earlier than she said...especially when I explained that I had two people "pressuring" me into doing it. I called again at 4pm and that's when they said come in. We got there at 4:30pm and then had to sit around waiting for the pitocin. I was really nervous about getting induced. Everyone I talked to told me what a bad experience they had or that I was rushing the baby, that I should let her come on her own, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the doctor checked me and I was only 1-2 cm dialated and not effaced and she was high. I really thought that I was in for it. They started me on pitocin around 7pm and contractions started about 30 mins later. I held out as long as I could for the epidural, got that about 3-4 hours after the pitocin. It was smooth sailing from there. The nurse checked me at about 1:30am and said that I was about a 6-7cm and 90% effaced. She then came in at about 3:30am to check and said "Don't do anything, you're ready to have a baby". The doctor came in and I started pushing at 3:40 and after 3 pushes, Allyson was born. She was 8lbs and 21 inches. When the doctor was handing her over to the nurse, he said, "What a beautiful baby boy." I said, "WHAT??" Turns out he was kidding. Eric said he didn't want to cut the cord, but Dr. Coats made him feel like a chicken, so he ended up doing it. It was definitely an easy labor and Keira's wasn't that hard either. I still can't get over how easy it was especially when I was so worried about being induced and being told that I'll be in labor a long time. Unfortunately, Eric wasn't as funny this time. The epidural didn't have a button so he couldn't pump me full of the stuff and there weren't any remote controlled lights. He slept a lot, went out to the store to get something to eat, brought me a Women's Muscle magazine (in all fairness I asked for a fitness magazine). Things I want to remember...
1) Contractions for me definitely do not feel like I have to go poop which is what people kept telling me is how I would feel.
2) I got really nauseous right before delivering Allyson. Apparently, that's a sign you're about to have a baby.
3) Bring food, games, and books for Eric so he doesn't have to leave.
Well, that's pretty much it. Allyson and I stayed in the hospital for 24 hours (getting out of post partum here ASAP is a must. Shared rooms and shared bathrooms between 4 people...yikes!) and then we were home and we're both doing great. Keira loves her baby sister and is very helpful and loving. Overall a great experience.

Wow, I've heard getting induced is horrible too but I'm glad you broke that trend. :) I can't even imagine having to share a room at all, that doesn't sound so fun! Thanks, I love labor stories! She is adorable!
I love labor stories too! Holy cow - 4 people 1 room 1 bathroom - You're amazing - She's beautiful! Congratulations!
I was induced twice and it was a much harder labor, however I didn't have any medication so that's why I could tell it was worse. I agree that giving birth and pooping don't feel the same way at all. I am glad that your baby is here and you are both safe and sound.
See, I think your family are freaks. I hear horror stories all the time and when we had Jordan, I was like Whaaaaaaa! Then Kristen told the Doctor, nurses and I about your mom and you with Keira and they were like ok whatever. I just sat there and waited and see. So I'm glad you had it somewhat quick and not too horribly hard. Hope you guys are doing well.
So glad to hear baby Allyson has arrived safe and sound! CONGRATS!
